Come and Gone

OK, the 2009 TdF came and went with no Hometown TdF to accompany it. I ended up taking a microbiology class at San Antonio College (the community college here in SATX (pronounced "say-tex", interpretted San Antonio, Texas)). It was worth the sacrifice as I earned an 'A' in the class and set myself up to apply to UTHSC School of Nursing.

REGARDLESS, I'm back on the back and back on the blog and back on to planning the Hometown TdF Lance Armstrong Foundation grassroots fundraiser. I will be updating this blog with workout progress, ride maps, links for Paypal and LAF, links to sponsors, etc. This idea is just now solidifying and will continue to grow in scope.

New Goal: Hometown TdF 2010! 9 months and counting. I hope to get into the south texas racing circuit to stay tuned up for the ride. Up next, the 1604 Peleton ride hosted by Britons Bike Shop. After that it's the Tour de Gruene in Gruene, TX. Just a short 27 mile partner time trial. Then it's pretty much the off season until March.

STAY TUNED!

P.S. You will notice I will refer to myself and sign off using a myriad of names and nicknames to include but not limited to Robert, RickyBobby, RB, STRICK, Billy, and Crazy. Try to keep up.

It begins...Kind of...

Ok everybody. I'm slowly but surely taking steps to accomplish a personal challenge. I will never ride in the Tour de France. I CAN, however, complete the Tour de France distance in my own backyard, so to speak.

Welcome to HomeTown Tour de France. This is a challenge to ride every mile of every stage of the 2009 Tour de France right here in and around San Antonio, TX. I've expanded the idea into a "Grass Roots" style FUNDRAISER for the LANCE ARMSTRONG FOUNDATION.

The idea is that friends, family, and other supporters like yourself can pledge a penny, a nickel, a dime, a quarter or more for each mile I ride. Then, upon completion, donations will be made through PayPal directly to the LAF. The total mileage should be in the neighborhood of 2100 miles, which equates to donations of $21, $105, $210, on up to $525 or more.

Stay tuned for donating details, links to Paypal and LAF, and maps and pictures of my rides.
